Our goal at STEPPING STONES MARBLE & GRANITE is to provide our clients the highest quality craftsmanship with cost efficient pricing, while always completing our awarded contracts in a timely manner.
Our story started when stone craftsman Dale Hamman & Baldvin Thorsson found themselves between a rock and a hard place. Their customers demand for quality craftsmanship & fabrication could not be met in a timely fashion.
"Our idea to start STEPPING STONES came from our clients who were very pleased with our work and attention to detail and yet were asking us to take on jobs that others could not do.” Thorsson said.
Hamman and Thorsson, who initially started the company and now have 40 years of combined experience founded STEPPING STONES MARBLE & GRANITE on Taft Street in 1996. They began doing their own fabrication to supplement the sales and installation of polished stone in homes throughout Fairfield County. They put custom stonework and tiles in bathrooms, kitchens, fireplaces, barbecues, pools, yachts, foyers, wine cellars and jacuzzis to mention just some of their many projects. As you will see from their portfolios, craftsmanship and creativity abound.
"Clients come to us looking for a special project, they want someone whose ideas go from their heads to their hands, from design to fabrication to installation." Hamman said.
Since 1996, STEPPING STONES has expanded tremendously. Due to the growth of the company they had joined forces with their third partner, Joseph Marotta. Joe’s talent and experience in sales combined with his lively energy is used to lead our sales team forward in meeting our clients demands.
Joe quickly brought on board our very talented Vicki Beltz, in design and sales, and with her help redesigned our entire 3,000 square foot showroom. We now have one of the finest, detailed oriented, fabrication/tile shops in Fairfield County. With over 8,000 square feet of showroom and fabrication facility on site, we can offer our clients the complete package. We have over 16 employees in house who are skilled and experienced to assist us in meeting our clients' needs. We are always looking forward in our profession and we invite you to come visit us!
